  • The Knowledge Lifecycle

The key to using a knowledge management system like Memento is the knowledge lifecycle, which looks like this:

This 'virtuous cycle' is a feedback loop - the knowledge entered helps in the creation of new content. In Memento the capture and classify stages occur simultaneously, so using Memento comes down to just three activities:

    • capture - you enter content into the system, classifying it as appropriate
    • share - you make your content visible to others
    • copy/create - (aka import) someone else encounters the information you published and decides to incorporate it into their knowledge base. And the loop continues...

We begin then, at the capture stage. The next section explains how to enter new information into your Memento knowledge base.
